Single Package
This is an air conditioner where the entire system is in a single metal case. Normally, these are mounted in a window. They do not generally connect to the ductwork inside the home.
Split System
This is where the components of the air conditioning system are both indoors and outdoors. Most homes have this type of system because it can push cool air throughout the entire house via the ductwork.
Zoning
This term refers to the strategies of dividing a house into different areas for both heating and cooling. If you’ve ever been in a structure where different rooms have different temperatures, the zoning isn’t working efficiently. The best zoning allows for an even distribution of cooled air throughout the structure.
Inverter
An inverter is a component that allows the system to achieve the desired temperature quickly. It serves roughly the same function as the accelerator of a car, and it’s an important part for the system to operate efficiently.
